Destination Iceland: Nature, diverse activities, memorable experiences.
Updated: Jan 25
Set perfectly in between the UK and the US, Iceland tends to be overlooked in terms of a destination for UK groups. We often opt for more known locations in Scandinavia (which are worthy in their own right). But we would like to give you a snapshot of Iceland and why you should consider it for your conferences, events and incentives (MICE) from now on.
Firstly it really is a nature destination. It boasts some amazing unique scenery you simply cannot find in any other location. From the blue ice glaciers, hot geysers, volcano lava caves to being one of the top 10 snorkel / diving destinations in the world. Oh and of course you will get the endless days in summer and the northern lights across autumn / winter.
Being a small country, your travel and transfer times are never too extensive which we find can be am issue with groups we send to other places. Reykjavik is the city hub with lots on offer and is being recognised as a foodie hot spot. You may not get much in the way of fine wine, but they do have their own range of beers and breweries for tasting sessions.
For events they boast the usual range of venues, but those looking for quirky, unique and memorable there are places such as the caves and some venues outside of the city that will set your event above anything else. But it's incentives that really raise the bar with Iceland. So many activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, geothermal swimming not to mention as the diving and snorkelling between the tectonic plates...very cold we are advised but not to be missed if that is your sort of thing!
For adrenaline junkies, what about rib boat rides out to spot the whales, or quad biking the moon like terrain across the lava fields and volcanic beaches. Maybe take a super jeep and explore the glaciers and highlands?
As you can see, so much on offer and so much to experience with Iceland. Very instagramable which we know is important to some! With such diverse and unique opportunities, it can come at a price. But it may surprise you, so before you turn away, we recommend having the discussion and pricing something up. It really will offer the wow factor for any groups that make the visit.
