June 2025: Always a great way to end the first part of the year, back working with executive search specialists - Erevena. It was their annual "Summit" week and we were tasked with planning and delivering their corporate off site event.
Challenge:
We were asked to source and plan a corporate off site as part of the Erevena Summer Summit Week. We needed to find a venue within around an hours travel from Central London. It had to have rooms for an overnight stay and be able to incorporate a morning conference, lunch, afternoon team building and a fun evening reception.
Part of the planning process with the client team involved discussions around an outdoor team activity. Expressing an interest in the tv show "Hunted" and could we potentially do something along those lines? We also discussed that the event would be across Glastonbury week and that many of the attendees would love something of a festival feel if possible.
We looked at venues that would work well across each objective area of the event. We came back with De Vere Horsley Estate. It was within an hour from London, had great conference facilities, huge grounds in which to organise a Hunted Style team activity and finally Horsley Towers provided a great backdrop and setting for a festival evening that we titled "Glastovena".
Plan and objectives:
55 people - UK, Europe, MENA & US Teams
Horsley Estate, UK
Morning Conference Session
1 x Team Building Activity (The Hunted)
Festival inspired evening reception
Overnight Stay
Results:
Morning: We began the day with teas, coffees and pastries in the great breakout space within De Vere Horsley Estate. It was then into the Jenkins Suite for the "The Hackathon" conference session. Which came together across functions and geographies to pitch bold, practical ideas to evolve our strategic plan, a brilliant mix of brainpower and collaboration that captured the spirit of what Erevena is all about!
The Hunted: A fantastic private buffet lunch before we headed back to the suite, which was now set up for the afternoon team activity. This year as fell brilliantly on brief. We set up "The Hunted" by GOTO Events which proved to not only be a successful and fun afternoon. But also brought out some very big competitive spirit!
Set into teams, they were tasked with a number of objectives across the vast Horsley Estate. Home to Bear Grylls and his survival courses! There were a number of safe zones in which they were able to complete the tasks as well as remaining safe from being caught. Teams needed to move across the game area as stealthy as possible, not to be caught by opposing teams. They could do this by taking photos of the teams and sending back to HQ.
Across the afternoon, completed tasks were scored and captured teams had a reduction in points. The leader board was a flurry of movement except for one team. They remained top of the board for the entire afternoon until the remaining final few minutes where they dropped to fourth!!
When the teams returned, winners were crowned and a great video was shown of their attempts across the afternoon. It provided many laughs, bonded teams with stories and experiences and showed what a great culture is being built by the people at Erevena.
We'd arranged check in for ease of the group and to maximise some free time before the evening ahead.
Glastovena:
Don't forget your lanyards...the evening was set for the very first "Glastovena Festival" Starting outside on the stunning Horsley Towers terrace and surrounding lawns. We provided a mix of pop up street food stands (US, Asian and Mexican themed foods) and the firm favourite ice cream bike!
Whilst indulging on the food and outside bar, you could enjoy some garden games such as Giant Jenga and Rodeo Bull..! Get your best festival look with our amazing facepainting artist. Or simply relax and enjoy some fantastic live music via the hugely talented Paul Martyn - providing live sax and singing some great festival sunset tunes.
Once the sun was setting, we moved inside for the "afterparty" in the Great Hall. Here we had Paul once again being DJ with some great festival party anthems. With a little singing and sax at times too!
Festival you say...well we certainly have you covered on this one!
