The beginning of May can only mean one thing here are We Are MEaT HQ - it's the annual Irish road trip! What began a couple of years back in Derry, continued last year around Cork and this year we were exploring the heartlands of the Ireland.
Our trip began early morning in Dublin where we met up with a new addition this year - Craig McGee of Panoptic Events who was keen to join us for the trip. We were then welcomed by our transfer organised through the Dublin Convention Bureau and our road trip began!
The trip was set over 3 full days and took in the likes of Killashee, Kilkea, Kilkenny, Tullamore and Athlone. Before finishing of course in Dublin. The main aim of these trips is to explore the endless opportunities for events and experiences in Ireland. We chose the heartlands as we wanted to see and showcase areas within easy reach outside of Dublin. Locations that could stand alone for events and incentives, but could also be twinned with the capital city.
Firstly...Golf (of course.)
We were invited in to see Kilkea Castle Hotel & Golf Resort, Mount Juliet Estate and Glasson Lakehouse and just within easy reach of Dublin. Each offer a different golfing challenge and vista. But not only that, they have so much to offer for events and incentives.
But not only that, they have so much to offer the non golfers in the group. From luxury spas, equestrian activities, falconry, fishing, kayaking to your own private cinema screening. Of course you have first class dining and some quirkly Irish pub opportunities!
Meetings and Events
This region is really set up well for conferences, forums and kick offs. With plenty of stunning outside space and first class facilities. You can get creative with a variety of event space and conference facilities, team building opportunities and acres of outdoor space for health and wellness.
We took in Killashee Hotel, Lyrath Estate, Tullamore Court Hotel, Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone and Clontarf Castle last week. Each offering fantastic opportunities in some lovely locations within easy access of Dublin.
Locations
One of Ireland's many hidden treasures - Kilkenny. An amazing time exploring this stunning medieval town, just over an hour or so south of Dublin. From lovely boutique hotels, to castles, pubs that date back to being owned by witches and then sampling the local ale at Smithwicks Brewery.
Athlone is a lovely destination on the river Shannon that hosts the oldest pub in Ireland!
Tullamore is a lovely location and hosts the Tullamore Whiskey Distillery. Not only a fine drop, but a fully immersive tour to be had here.
Dublin with a difference? How about an amazing stadium experience at Croke Park?
The venue is an absolute cauldron and the atmosphere on match days must be amazing. A little try of hurling while learning the history through their fantastic museum. Great hospitality and conference options...it offers so much for leisure and corporate.
Whether it's the tour, a match or a gig. The DUBLIN ONE hotel next door is also a great option for those wanting to stay by the stadium and you can even private hire the Big Tree - Dublin's oldest pub which is on site.
Golf, conference, incentive or a mix of them all? Let's have a discussion on what fantastic experiences you can have in Ireland with your business - info@wearemeat.com
Thank you to all the venues and especially The Inua Collection for your time, help and hospitality during our visit.
