A Taste of Italy: Rockwool’s Post-Conference Incentive Experience in Sorrento

Creating a memorable close to an industry conference in southern Italy

After several days at a construction industry conference in Sorrento, Rockwool wanted to give their team a final experience that felt relaxed, authentic and memorable.

We Are MEaT designed a small-group incentive activity that brought delegates together through local flavour, hands-on participation and the unmistakable hospitality of southern Italy.

The result was a warm, informal and engaging end to the trip — giving the group a shared experience rooted in the destination and carefully managed from start to finish.

The challenge

Rockwool had a team of 10 guests attending a construction industry conference in Sorrento. After several days of structured conference content, the group needed a change of pace: something relaxed, social and easy to enjoy.

The experience needed to feel distinctly local, while still being simple for guests to participate in after a busy programme. Rather than arranging a standard dinner, Rockwool wanted an activity that would help the team reconnect, enjoy the setting and close the trip on a high.

The plan

We Are MEaT created a compact, high-impact post-conference experience that combined local culture, informal networking and hands-on participation.

The group were given time to refresh at their hotel before being met in the lobby and guided into the evening’s activity. From there, the experience was designed to flow naturally: first through a local tasting experience, then into an interactive food-led team activity.

The plan focused on three key objectives:

  • Give the group a relaxed transition out of conference mode
  • Create a shared experience that encouraged participation
  • Showcase the flavour, culture and hospitality of Sorrento
  • The experience

The evening began with a visit to a local limoncello producer, where guests learned more about one of Sorrento’s most famous specialities. The group explored the production process, discovered the role of the region’s lemons and enjoyed a tasting experience that gave the activity an immediate sense of place.

From there, the group moved on to a local pizzeria for an interactive pizza-making experience. Guided by expert pizza makers, guests created their own authentic Italian pizzas before enjoying them together.

To add energy and a light competitive edge, the expert pizza makers judged the creations and selected a winning pizza. This gave the group a fun, informal moment of recognition while keeping the tone relaxed and inclusive.

It was simple, social and highly memorable...a genuine taste of Italy that gave Rockwool’s team a different kind of shared experience away from the conference environment.

Why this worked

The experience worked because it balanced structure with informality. After several days of conference content, the group needed something that felt easy to enjoy — not another formal business session.

The limoncello factory visit gave guests a sense of place and a relaxed introduction to Sorrento’s local culture. The pizza-making activity then added energy, humour and participation, giving the group a shared moment they could enjoy together.

For a small team of 10, this format was ideal: personal, interactive, locally rooted and simple for guests to engage with from start to finish.
